Sharon Nicol’s Profile and Clinical Excellence

Sharon Adjei-Nicol is qualified as Speech and Language Therapist in 2004 at the University College of London (UCL) and have been working with adults with speech, language, voice and swallowing difficulties since this time.

She has vast experience working in NHS, private and research settings working with adult clients with a range of conditions affecting swallowing or communication. This includes: Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease as well as stammering, speech sound disorders such as lisps or voice (ENT) conditions such as vocal cord nodules.

She has managed NHS speech and language departments and teach speech and language therapy students. In 2008 she completed a Masters degree at the Institute of Neurology and currently I am in the process of completing a PhD research study at UCL, focused on developing a new treatment for severe communication difficulties post stroke.

Her main area of interest of study and clinical expertise is the assessment and treatment of severe/global aphasia secondary to Stroke. For her thesis she designed a new assessment and treatment for this client group which has had promising results and which she now use with many of my clients and is due to be published.

She is able to see clients at my central London clinic in Clerkenwell, in their own home or care facility or by Skype/Facetime.

She offer detailed specialist assessments and goal orientated treatment tailored to the needs of each individual.

She is a certified LSVT – Lee Silverman Voice Treatment – clinician and certified MDTP provider of McNeill Dysphagia Therapy. In addition, she can offer many more specialist speech and language treatments and she’s happy to discuss further any individual requirements.
