data-phrase-index=\"3\">nfant have a preference for their mother&#8217;s voice and face, and the main form of communication at this stage is crying.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>3-6 that is, the repetition of syllables made up of the same consonant (for example ba-ba-ba, ma-ma-ma).<\/span> Babbling does not develop in the same way in<span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-phrase-index=\"2\"> a phase called &#8220;the explosion of vocabulary&#8221;.<\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"3\">The child gradually understands that an object corresponds to each word and that through language he can act on the world around him.<\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"5\">For this reason, the acquisition of new words in this phase becomes much faster.<\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"6\">This is the stage where children become interested in the names of things and begin using them.<\/span> No sentences are used yet<span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"8\">, but rather sentence-words, that is, single words that encompass the meaning of a whole sentence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>18-24 months<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">This phase sees a progressive expansion of the vocabulary to reach 150\/200 words at verbs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>30-36 months<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">Sentences widen and become more and more complete.<\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"1\">Articles, prepositions, pronouns are introduced and<\/span><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"auto\" data-phrase-index=\"3\"> the child progressively acquires all the sounds of their language, usually completing the entire phonemic inventory within 6 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ca1517;\">What is a Speech Delay? <span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">toddler<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The expression \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gosh.nhs.uk\/conditions-and-treatments\/procedures-and-treatments\/speech-and-language-development-12-24-months\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">speech delay<\/a>\u201d is used when a child who, without presenting particular hearing, cognitive and\/or social issues, develops language later than usual.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As we have seen, each child has their own personal timing in development, which must be respected. There is no need to make comparisons between children or demand that they go beyond their abilities, and this attitude can actually be harmful, as it can induce feelings of failure and frustration, as well as impair their motivation and undermine their self-esteem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, you should not on the other hand put oneself in a state of simple &#8220;confident expectation&#8221; that the problem will solve itself, as there is a risk of wasting precious time. After relying on a very erratic NHS district nurse service for a few weeks, she contacted Medelit UK. The nurse they provided was very competent and knowledgeable. She was always on time and very flexible, visiting even on a Sunday and August Bank Holiday! If for whatever reason our timetable changed, everything was quickly rearranged by simply e-mailing Medelit.
