Your Nurse Home Visit in London, Step by Step
From a one-off injection in Islington to weekly wound dressings in Richmond, every visit follows the same simple path: you choose the nurse, propose a time, and pay once the nurse confirms.
Where the nurse comes to you and who visits
Where the nurse comes to you
Anywhere in London you need nursing care: your flat or house, a parent’s care home, a hotel room during a stay in the city, or your office. Give that address when you book and the nurse comes to you there.
Who visits
A nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), with an active DBS check, references and professional insurance, interviewed by our managing doctors before joining. Compare the nurses who cover your postcode by profile and fee, and ask for the same nurse again for follow-up visits.
What to have ready, timing and after the visit
What to have ready
A doctor’s referral letter is required for wound, catheter, stoma and line care, injections and nursing care by the hour; an IV drip requires the prescription for the drip instead. Blood tests and enemas can be booked without either. The booking form shows an upload field whenever the chosen service needs a document. For simple procedures the nurse brings the materials; for the others you are informed beforehand that the drugs or materials must be ready at hand.
Timing
Choose a preferred day and time when you book; the nurse either accepts it or offers the nearest slot they have, and your payment confirms the visit. Nurse visits are generally within a couple of days, and even within the day, subject to availability. In an emergency call 999 or go to A&E.
After the visit
The nurse writes up the visit and the report is sent to you, the patient, to keep or to pass on to your GP or consultant. If further visits are needed — a course of injections, weekly dressings, a monthly catheter change — you can book them one at a time or as a regular schedule.

What Our Patients Say
Very good experience. From the process to an appointment till the visit of the doctor. Even the afterwork with a detailed report. Appointment on time, good treatment. For sure, the right adress for visit of a doctor at home.
The service is impeccable...i was provided with an acupuncturist covering my area immediately and the practitioner was very professional and gave a medical report after each session. Also an invoice was provided which was acceptable by my insurance AXA PPP...
Great service all around. It was easy to arrange the appointment and make payment. Nurse came to my home to administer an infusion. Very friendly and professional nurse who was a pleasure to have in my home.
A very professional medical group. Responded immediately to my mums caring needs. We were desperate for a home visit and they answered promptly and allocated a very thorough doctor for us. Doctor made mum very relaxed because mum is usually a very nervous patient. I will recommend others to use them. Very satisfied with their services. Way to go Medelit. Well done!
The speech therapist who visited me at home was very attentive, patience and positive. She had time to address all of my questions and give me much needed guidance. Very pleased with the service and would highly recommend. Thanks, From a pleased mother.
In London a nurse home visit for a single procedure currently starts from £75 in the nurse’s nearest area, rising with distance and with longer visits such as IV drips or hourly nursing care. Each nurse publishes their own fee; you compare them for your postcode before booking and pay only once the nurse has confirmed.
Often within a couple of days and sometimes the same day, depending on which nurses cover your postcode and when you ask. Choose the service and a preferred time; the nurse accepts it or offers the nearest free slot, and your payment confirms the visit. Medelit is not an emergency service: for urgent help call 999 or 111.
Yes. Our nurses currently cover 33 London boroughs, listed in the next question, from the northern suburbs to Croydon and Sutton in the south and Havering in the east. Type your postcode and the booking window lists only the nurses who actually visit your address, each with a profile and a fee, so you can pick the one nearest to you.
For example Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Bexley, Brent, Bromley, Camden, City of London, Croydon, Ealing, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Havering, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Kingston upon Thames, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Newham, Redbridge, Richmond upon Thames, Southwark, Sutton, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Wandsworth, Westminster. These are the boroughs inside the areas our nurses actually cover today; the list is indicative and does not guarantee a visit, because availability depends on which nurses are working when you book. Enter your postcode to see who can come to your address.
Yes. Nurses see patients wherever they are in London: in residential and nursing homes alongside the home’s own staff, in hotels for visitors who fall ill or need a scheduled injection during their stay, and in offices for employees who cannot get away. Simply give that address when you book instead of your home address.
Yes. Prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, including courses that repeat weekly or monthly, can be given at home anywhere in London. The nurse needs a referral letter from your doctor, which you upload when booking the home injection service in London, and repeat visits can be booked with the same nurse.
Yes. After discharge from a London hospital a nurse can visit your parent at home or in their care home to check wounds, manage a catheter, give prescribed medicines and monitor blood pressure and other vital signs, with a referral from the hospital or GP. Visits can be single or planned as a regular schedule; see elderly and long-term nurse care.
Yes. Every nurse who visits in London holds a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, a DBS check, professional indemnity insurance and references, and has been interviewed by our managing doctors before joining Medelit. Their registration, experience and specialisms are summarised on the profile you read before you book.
For blood tests and enemas, no. For wound, catheter, stoma and line care, injections and hourly nursing care, yes: a referral letter from your GP, consultant or discharging hospital. An IV drip needs the prescription for the drip instead of a referral. The booking form asks you to upload the document whenever the service you choose requires it.
No. Medicines are never carried by the nurse: you buy them in a pharmacy with your doctor’s prescription and keep them ready at home for when the nurse arrives, whether it is an injection, an IV drip or another prescribed treatment. Materials for simple procedures come with the nurse; for anything else you are told in advance what to have at hand.
