There is nothing to register for in advance, and appointments run right through the week, evenings and weekends included.

Fees are individual to each nurse and shown clearly on their profile before you commit to a booking. Joining costs nothing — there is no membership or subscription — and payment is simply taken for the appointment itself once you accept the time your nurse proposes.

Yes. Each nurse holds current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and is selected for demonstrated clinical experience. Before joining Medelit, every nurse passes a background screening, has their references verified, and is interviewed personally by our managing doctors, and holds indemnity cover.

No referral is required to book — any Medelit nurse offering video consultations can see you directly. If a GP or hospital team has already given you a referral letter or notes, feel free to share them; your nurse will find the background useful, though it isn’t mandatory.

Yes — many patients use a video appointment to build confidence with a new injection, including subcutaneous fertility hormone injections before an IVF cycle, insulin or other self-administered medication. Your nurse talks you through the technique step by step until you feel ready to do it alone.

All you need is any device with a screen, microphone and camera — a phone, tablet or laptop — plus a steady internet signal. Nothing needs installing in advance: your appointment opens directly through a browser link we send you.

Coverage differs between insurers, and nurse-led video appointments are not always included, so it is best to check your own policy wording first. If you do need to claim, Medelit is happy to provide an invoice for the appointment.

No — a video appointment is for advice, teaching and support, not for a hands-on wound assessment or a physical procedure such as a dressing change. If your wound needs a nurse to examine or treat it in person, our home visiting nursing team can come to you instead.
