A referral letter from your GP summarising your history and symptoms is useful. Also gather your medical records, recent hospital discharge summaries, any scan or ultrasound results, and a list of the medicines you take, for the surgeon to review.
Not necessarily. Hip pain does not always come from the hip itself. If it lasts for days, it is sensible to have a doctor look at it, and an orthopaedic surgeon is the specialist to ask.
