Home Nursing Across London and the Home Counties

Our nurses visit across London and towns in Surrey, Kent, Hertfordshire, Essex and Berkshire, and new areas open as nurses join (examples in the questions below). Looking for a private nurse in London? The London page has the detail for the capital. Enter your postcode to see who covers your address today.

How Our Visiting Nursing Service Works

Our nurses provide a bespoke visiting nursing service at the patient’s home, in care homes or private hospitals, at workplaces and in hotels — for a single visit or ongoing care planned as a schedule, with the same nurse where possible.

Care at home, peace of mind

You and your loved ones avoid moving around the city and limit trips to hospital. It is reassuring for the whole family to know a skilled, professional nurse is there when needed — so you can live as independently as possible at home and concentrate on getting well.

Who looks after you: NMC-registered, specialised nurses and care tailored to you

NMC-registered, specialised nurses

Our independent nurses are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), insured, and vetted with a full background check, reference check and interview with our managing doctors. They are specialised in caring for adults and older people and assigned according to their particular areas of expertise; you see each nurse’s profile before you book.

Care tailored to you

Your care is tailored to your needs and medical conditions and may include blood test collection, wound and dressing management, therapy administration, post-operative care, nursing care by the hour and respite care, as well as teaching and supporting the patient and family.

Before the visit: documents to have ready, the team around your nurse, languages

Documents and what to have ready

Most nursing procedures — wound, catheter, stoma and line care, injections, and nursing care by the hour — need a referral letter from your doctor; an IV drip needs the prescription for the drip instead. Blood tests and enemas need neither. When a service needs it, the booking form asks you to upload the letter or the prescription. For simple procedures the nurse brings the materials; for the others you are told beforehand which drugs or materials to have at hand for the visit.

Part of a multidisciplinary team

Our nurses work within a multidisciplinary team and have close connections with the main clinics and hospitals in London, so they can plan your care around your individual needs.

Whatever other needs you have, our doctors, physiotherapists, chiropodists and podiatrists and psychologists work with our nurses as one team, in the comfort of your home.

Our nurses also offer online nurse consultations, and our mobile nursing service can be booked for corporate healthcare plans and check-ups on site.

Many cultures and languages

We have nurses from many cultural backgrounds who speak a number of languages — making it easier to talk about medical issues, and for them to understand what matters to your loved one.

A very professional medical group. Responded immediately to my mums caring needs. We were desperate for a home visit and they answered promptly and allocated a very thorough doctor for us. Doctor made mum very relaxed because mum is usually a very nervous patient. I will recommend others to use them. Very satisfied with their services. Way to go Medelit. Well done!

Private nurse home visit prices: a single procedure such as an injection, a catheter change or an enema currently starts from £75, depending on your area, and longer nursing care is charged by the hour. Each nurse sets their own fee, shown on their profile before you book, and you pay online only after the nurse confirms the time.

Nurse home visits are generally within a couple of days, and even within the day, subject to availability. Enter your postcode to see which nurses cover your address and share your preferred time: the nurse proposes it or the closest time they have free, and you pay to confirm. For a medical emergency, call 999 or go to A&E.

Across London our nurses currently visit, for example, Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Bexley, Brent, Bromley, Camden, City of London, Croydon, Ealing, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Havering, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Kingston upon Thames, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Newham, Redbridge, Richmond upon Thames, Southwark, Sutton, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Wandsworth, Westminster. Outside London they reach towns in Surrey (Epsom, Sutton, Guildford, Woking, Reigate, Dorking), Kent (Dartford, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge), Hertfordshire (Watford, St Albans, Hatfield, Hertford), Essex (Harlow, Epping) and Berkshire (Slough, Windsor). The list is indicative: availability depends on which nurses are working when you book, and new areas open as nurses join. For the capital see private nurse in London.

Yes, wherever our nurses cover your postcode: enter it and you see the home nurses near you, each with a profile and fee. Our nurses visit every London borough listed on this page and towns across Surrey, Kent, Hertfordshire, Essex and Berkshire, and new areas open as nurses join.

For most nursing procedures, yes: wound, catheter, stoma and line care, injections and hourly nursing care need a referral letter from your doctor, and an IV drip needs the prescription for the drip instead. Blood tests and enemas need neither. When a service needs it, the booking form asks you to upload the letter or the prescription.

No. Our nurses do not carry drugs. You buy the medicine with your doctor’s prescription — for an injection, an IV drip or any other prescribed treatment — and have it ready at hand for the nurse’s arrival. For simple procedures the nurse brings the materials; for the others you are told beforehand what to have ready.

Yes. A registered nurse gives prescribed injections at home, including intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, with the medicine you were prescribed. Choose our home injection service in London, upload the referral letter when you book, share your preferred time and the nurse confirms the visit at your address.

Yes. Nurses clean and dress complex and post-surgical wounds at home, with a referral letter from your doctor. For leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, bedsores and wounds that are slow to heal, a specialist nurse visits instead: see our wound care and tissue viability nurse at home service for first visits, follow-ups and five-visit packages.

Yes. Registered nurses provide urinary catheter care and stoma and colostomy care at home, as well as the care of PICC lines, midlines and Port-a-Caths. These procedures need a referral letter, which the booking form asks you to upload. See catheter care at home and stoma care at home for details of each visit.

Yes. Nurses give IV drips and infusion therapy at home, in visits of up to three hours, and stay with you during the infusion. An IV drip needs the prescription from your doctor, which you upload when you book. See IV and infusion therapy at home for what to expect at the visit.

Yes. Nurses visit older people at home or in a care home, after surgery or hospital discharge and with long-term conditions: wound checks, medication support, monitoring of vital signs and nursing care by the hour, for one visit or a regular schedule. See elderly and long-term nurse care for ongoing care at home.

Yes. Every nurse is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), holds professional indemnity insurance and is vetted with a background check, a reference check and an interview with our managing doctors before joining Medelit. You can read each nurse’s profile and qualifications before you book a home visit.

There is no agency contract and no membership: choose the service, enter your address, compare the nurses who cover it, share your preferred time and pay online once the nurse confirms. You can hire a nurse for a single visit or a regular schedule, with the same nurse where possible.

NHS district nurses are arranged by your GP or the hospital and visit according to NHS referral and capacity. A private nurse is one you choose and book yourself, at a time agreed with the nurse, when you prefer to arrange care directly or need care at home that the NHS is not providing.

You receive a report of the visit, which you can share with your GP or specialist if you wish. For ongoing care you can book follow-up visits with the same nurse, one at a time or as a regular schedule, and your nurse tells you what to have ready for the next visit.
