Dr Sluiman Jawad – Consultant in Geriatrics and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Dr Sluiman Jawad is a registered medical practitioner with licence to practice with the UK General Medical Council. Dr Jawad received his medical qualification in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Baghdad (Iraq) in 1979. After that he obtained an MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow in 1985, and later a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) from the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow in 2001. Dr Jawad has been an MRCP examiner for the royal college of physicians in the UK for approximately 20 years. He served as a member of the question writing group to the Royal College of Physicians of London. Dr Jawad served as a past secretary to the South West Thames regional British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Dr Jawad is on the specialist register as a consultant in 2 specialties, Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine. He held substantive posts as a consultant in rehabilitation medicine and geriatric medicine in 1997 and 2004 respectively. Dr Jawad acquired a long experience in the above fields as a specialist, as well as General Medicine, for 25 years.

During his career, Dr Jawad performed all the required technical skills and procedures in general medicine and rehabilitation. In addition, Dr Jawad gained a long experience in managing spasticity including Botulinum Toxin treatment.

Dr Jawad worked in many rotational posts as an SHO, registrar and senior registrar since his arrival to the UK in 1982. Dr Jawad completed numerous medical audits during all of the above posts, in addition to involvement in research and publication of many papers in national journals.

Currently, Dr Jawad has been working as a consultant in Geriatric and General Medicine. His duties involve regular ward rounds, managing acute medical conditions and maximising physical functioning through holding multidisciplinary meetings. Dr Jawad has been engaged in educating healthcare and junior medical staff in his consultant posts.

Doctor Jawas is part of Medelit’s medical team and visits our Geriatric, General Medicine, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation patients providing Home Visits throughout London.
