Dear Colleague, let us introduce MEDELIT: a house call service that brings healthcare in English to people’s homes, offices and hotel rooms in many Italian cities, including Rome, Milan and Turin.
MEDELIT is owned and run entirely by physicians. The project was started by a small group of doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists, nurses, podiatrists, speech therapists and neurologists who wanted to practise in a freer, more rewarding way, centred on the patient.
If you are an international healthcare professional with a licence to practise in Italy, you will work in a dynamic, forward-thinking and international setting, in a team our clinicians describe as very well organised, friendly and a pleasure to work in, with full support throughout your career while you are in Italy.

Clinicians registered to practise in Italy and with professional indemnity insurance, with solid clinical experience, who can see patients in English: doctors and specialists, nurses, OSS (operatori socio-sanitari), physiotherapists, osteopaths, occupational therapists, psychologists, midwives, podiatrists, speech therapists, nutritionists, dentists and dental hygienists.
Yes. You need to be registered with your professional Order or register (Ordine or albo) in Italy and to hold professional indemnity insurance. If you qualified abroad, the Ministero della Salute website explains how to have your qualification recognised before you apply.
It is freelance work (libera professione), not employment. Medelit puts you in touch with patients and gives you the services you need to work at home and online, while you keep full control of your hours, areas and fees.
No, it is not compulsory. You can work with a partita IVA or, if you prefer, with a receipt with withholding tax (ricevuta con ritenuta d’acconto). You state your tax arrangement when you register; either way the work stays freelance, with the same freedom.
No. There are no shifts and no minimum hours: you work when it suits you. When you go away, or simply have no time for a while, you can temporarily suspend your profile from your account.
No. You pick the areas you want to work in, even a single district or a few towns close by, and requests only come from there. You can change your areas whenever you like; online consultations are not tied to an area.
Yes, based on your specialty and skills: you select the home and online services you want to provide and leave out the others, and you can change the list later.
You do. You set your own fee for every service, for home visits and online consultations alike; there is no Medelit price list, and you can change your fees later.
Yes, if your contract allows freelance practice: at registration you declare that there is no incompatibility, and you schedule your Medelit visits around your main job.
Yes, for video consultation services such as medical, psychological, nutrition and speech therapy consultations. You work from your own practice or from home, with patients all over Italy, and you set your video consultation hours as you do for home visits.
To start, just your CV. After the interview, if the outcome is positive, we ask for the essential documents for your profession, such as your registration with the Ordine or albo and your professional indemnity insurance.
