Pick the professional, name a time
Select a doctor or nurse and give the hour that would suit you. They come back with it or with their nearest opening; once you agree and pay online, the visit is fixed.
The test comes to you
The nurse takes the sample where you are and carries it to the laboratory. For a sleep study the doctor brings the portable recorder, so the night is recorded in your own bed; a CPAP is set where you use it every night.
Appointments follow each professional’s live availability, wherever suits you in Italy: your home, a hotel room, your workplace or a care home. The report is yours, to show any doctor you choose — in Italy or back home.

Blood and urine tests, taken by a registered nurse and delivered to an accredited laboratory, and two sleep services carried out by a doctor: home polysomnography, the overnight sleep study used to investigate sleep apnoea, and CPAP titration, the setting of a prescribed CPAP device. Each is booked through the same window.
Not for the sleep study or the CPAP titration: both can be booked directly, though the doctor will want any reports or requests you already have, and the CPAP prescription for a titration. For blood tests, an Italian prescription lets the laboratory bill the national health service; privately, writing down the tests you want will do.
Yes. Tourists, business travellers, students and expats can have the test in a hotel, a rented flat or at work, with everything arranged in English. There is no Italian residency requirement, and the report is yours to take back to the doctor at home.
Blood and urine samples are taken by registered nurses; the sleep study and the CPAP titration are carried out by doctors experienced in sleep medicine. All are registered in Italy and insured, and were selected by Medelit after reference checks and an interview with our managing doctors.
It is a recording of your sleep made with a portable device, used to investigate sleep apnoea and heavy snoring. The doctor comes to your address with the recorder, so you sleep in your own bed with your usual habits instead of spending a night in a hospital or sleep centre.
It is the adjustment of the pressure of a CPAP device, the machine prescribed for sleep apnoea. It is needed when you start the therapy, when a new device has to be set, or when your specialist asks for the settings to be checked. At home it is done where you use the CPAP every night.
After a sleep study or a titration you receive the doctor’s report in English, to keep and show to whoever follows your treatment. Blood and urine results depend on how long the laboratory takes and are emailed to you as soon as they are issued. They are in Italian; to go through them in English, you can book a video consultation with an English-speaking GP.
Each nurse and doctor sets their own fee, listed on their profile when you book, and checking availability costs nothing. For blood and urine tests the laboratory cost comes separately: the private rate, or the ticket if you have an Italian prescription. Every test comes with a healthcare invoice for your insurance claim.
