Both formats reach the same specialists. The difference is whether the doctor needs hands on you, or eyes on your reports.

- Something must be examined: a joint, a lump, a rash, a wound, the abdomen, the chest
- A test is done on the spot: ECG, blood pressure profile, spirometry, a swab or a blood sample
- Travel is the obstacle — after surgery, in frailty, with small children, or simply without a car in a strange city
- You want a second opinion in person before agreeing to a treatment proposed elsewhere

No. Medelit is private: any discipline can be booked directly. A GP letter or earlier reports help the specialist but are never a condition of booking.
It depends on the discipline and the doctor: every specialist sets their own fee for a first consultation, a follow-up and a video call, and the figure is shown on their profile before you confirm. There is no surcharge for evenings, weekends or holidays.
If you are not sure, book a GP home visit or an online doctor first: they assess the problem and tell you which specialist to see, often arranging it in the same system.
